  • Rodrigo Martinez Vasquez - Artisan

    Rodrigo is an indigenous Mixe community leader, activist, and pioneer in the artesanía industry of Oaxaca. He became a Master Alfarero (potter) at the Taller de Rufino Tomayo Oaxaca, to bring traditional and functional clay ware to consumers, as opposed to purely decorative pieces. He originally designed and produced the now infamous, “face-cup” that has proliferated throughout the state and beyond.

  • Nasaria Lazaro - Artisan

    Nazaria is a generational weaver of wool textiles from Teotilan de Valle, MX. Her textile designs tell stories of the ancient Zapotec culture and of her family and community.

  • Familiar Velasco - Artisans

    The Velasco’s are Zapotec Afareros (potters) from a pueblo with an ancient pottery tradition. They operate a family workshop that specializes in “barro filigree”, which is a style of fine, detailed red and brown clay-work.

  • Aaron Foster Velasco Pacheco & Maribel Pacheco - Artisans

    Aaron Foster is a an international legend in artisanal tin work called Hojalata. He has been producing masterpieces for almost 80 years, having begun his craft at his mother’s knee at the age of six. He specializes in very small detailed work depicting birds, trees, butterflies and flowers. His daughter Maribel works alongside him and creates distinctive impressionist style painted hojalata.
